I’m sure that in the settings on the computer you can change where you want the sound to come from. Search around in the control panel or something. It’s prbably set to external speakers at the moment and you’ll have to change it to coming from the TV/monitor speakers.

Q&A: How do you connect your ps3 to your lcd computer monitor to play games?

Question by Andy: How do you connect your ps3 to your lcd computer monitor to play games?
I would like to play ps3 games in full hd but I don’t have enough money to cough up for a new hdtv. I have a VH242H Asus LCD monitor(24 inches). Do you need an hdmi to dvi cable? or can you connect it using hdmi directly since my monitor has an hdmi port. How do acquire audio?

If the monitor has an HDMI port, yes all you need is a standard HDMI cable to connect it to your PS3, and it should work.

The PS3 is designed to work best over HDMI.
