Very good value for a DVD player. It’s efficient and easy to use and setup, but the benefits of a blu ray might be too much to pass up as the prices get lower. If you have a tv that supports 1080P then the blu ray movies are that much more enjoyable.

I have owned 2 other Samsung DVD players in recent years, and I’ve been very happy with both. The feature that both had in common was broad support for Divx/Xvid playback. When I saw that this player had both Divx and USB support at under $40, I immediately ordered one.
When I opened the player, however, I was shocked that there wasn’t a USB port to be found! I called Amazon support to request a refund and report the erroneous product listing. I see that they’ve removed the statement from the product description saying that it has a USB port, but it still says the player has Divx support, which is absolutely false. Also I see many user tags on this player for 1080 HD upconversion, which is also false.
About the only positive thing about this player is that it is small and physically attractive. And Amazon’s support was surprisingly helpful and responsive.
Back on the negative side, the player is noisy and the remote control is awful. It’s one of those tiny little blob-shaped remotes. Yuck. Overall, I’d say to avoid this player. For a few bucks more you can get something that actually DOES do upconverting, Divx, and USB. Sorry Samsung, you lost me as a customer with this stinker!

The DVD player is claimed to give you near HD picture. I compared to my HD signal from my cable provider and the DVD player does not compare. I am not sure how they can make this claim, most likely they found a technical way to legally claim this but I wouldnt buy this player expecting anything near the HD quality of a 1080i (and obviously not 1080p) output. Overall it is a good buy though. Looks good, slim, light. Good buy for the price.

This DVD player was a perfect choice. We were looking to replace our old DVD player because it fritzed out and wasn’t playing any of our Netflix videos, much less, any of our home ones. We weren’t prepared to spend the several hundred dollars for an upgrade to a more expensive Blu-ray player. So we started looking around and found this player. The price was right and I gotta tell ya it was a really good buy. It plays well on our flat screen and the picture is amazing. Not as amazing as the Blu-ray, but, much better than regular t.v. We had simple integration with our home theatre system as well. Overall this was an excellent value for our money.

We bought this DVD player after our other one started having all kinds of problems after several years of serving us quite well. This DVD player works well. At first, we couldn’t figure out why it was playing our widescreen movies at full screen, but figured out that we had to stop the movie and reset our TV type in the DVD menu, and that fixed it.
It works fine for us. We have a non-digital TV and just want something to play our movies.
