Q&A: How much are my subwoofers and amp worth?

Question by Jack: How much are my subwoofers and amp worth?
I have two MTX 12” Thunder 5500 subwoofers that run at 450 watts rms each and come in a stock box. I also have a MTX Thunder amp that runs at 600 watts rms, what should I expect to get for these if I put them on eBay? They are in really good condition and still run perfectly

you should be asking on craigslist.com or backpage.com first

somthing liek that will cost a lot to send in the mail

just look up the new price and depending how old they are and condition just take a percent off

like if in new condition late 25% off just for the fact of being used
ok condition 35%
crapy 70%

Component speakers give you more control of specific frequencies. Speakers are directional. And when you properly locate your speakers w/separates. You get excellent sound at low volumes. Location is key.

What are some great subwoofers for my vehicle?

Question by The Illuminating Ghost: What are some great subwoofers for my vehicle?
I was thinking about 3 12″ Alpine Type-X subwoofers or 3 12″ subwoofers from the Rockford Fosgate T-series. Which of these would be better? I like SPL but nice sound quality at the same time. Please suggest any subwoofers that you think are better also!

Best answer:

Answer by B R
Those Type-X’s put out 1000 watts RMS and the Rockford Fosgate T-Series start at 600 watts RMS so honestly 3 subs of either of them would be retardedly loud and have nice quality because both brands are great. I would go with the Type-X’s though because Alpine are generally a lot cheaper than rockford

How do I make the sound come from my speakers and not from my computer?

Question by Gwonam: How do I make the sound come from my speakers and not from my computer?
I bought some nice speakers at a garage sale, and I can’t get them to work properly. The sound comes from my speakers, and they work fine, but it also comes from the speaker in my computer. Can someone tell this idiot how to make it so the sound only comes from my speakers and not from the speaker in my computer?

Answer by Kristal
My best guess would be to go under your “Control Panel” and check under your sound settings if you operate through Microsoft Windows! Good Luck!

What kind of amp do i need to power 2 subwoofers?

Question by Logan: What kind of amp do i need to power 2 subwoofers?
In need of some advice from someone who knows car audio systems!! I just bought two 12″ subwoofers and im looking for an amp. I got the JL audio W3 and am not sure what kind of power i need. I know 1000w would be good but the ohms and channels confuse me. So what do i really need to power these babies with full potential without breaking the bank?

Best answer:

Answer by Luke Warren
I don’t know exactly what subs you bought, but this is a chart from the JL Audio website that shows you the recommended power level for each of their subs.

http://mobile.jlaudio.com/products_subs_pages.php?page_id=35

I know i didn’t really answer your question, but hopefully that chart will help somewhat.

Also if you click on the Subs that you bought, you can also see suggested boxes for the subs.

How would I get subwoofers in my truck?

Question by Nick M: How would I get subwoofers in my truck?
I have a 1993 Chevy S10 with a short cab. The back of the seats almost touch the rear window and there is nearly no room in the rear. I want to put 2-12″ subwoofers and the amp in the cab of the truck, but I’m not sure if there is room. I estimate there is around 4-6 inches behind the lowest part of the seat to the back of the cab. Can I put subs in my truck or not?

Answer by Jamin (J-MIN)
You have to either build or buy a custom box. I have had 2 friends do this very thing. Just make sure you choose wisely to pick the right size and shape speakers to fit.
