Panasonic DVD-S54K 1080p Upconverting DVD Player
After enjoying the wonderful quality of my Panasonic DVD Recorder DMR-EZ485V, I decided to trust the Panasonic name again and bought a Panasonic S54 DVD recorder. I was pleased at first with the beautiful picture produced by Upscaling my older, Home recorder DVDs. This Player procuces a very high quality, near high definition picture. I did find the remote control a little inconvienent in that it only interfaces with Panasonic TVs, so I had to use another remote to operate my Sony TV. But then I noticed a much more serious problem: everytime I fast forwarded through a Commercial, for example, and pressed Play, it would play a picture but no sound. This ocurred with most of my home recorded DVDs, including the DVD’s recorded on my new Panasonic DVD recorder. Several calls to Customer Service produced no help. The manual that came with my Player is also a disappointment-much too abreviated. I returned the Panasonic and bought a Sony NS700H and I am a very happy camper.

I am very pleased with this DVD player.
I compared it to a sony and thought the panasonic was a little better.
It plays any DVD no matter how old and the picture on the hdtv is excellent.

Simple and straightforward for those who don’t spend hours copying DVDs or tapes to DVD. Integrates with other panasonic products without fuss. The seller also provided a good price compared to retail stores.
