I am using HDMI on a 1080p LCD and Blu Ray looks stunningly fantastic but VHS is so bad that it is unwatchable.

I purchased this to replace my DVD/VCR combo but this doesn’t record to VHS. Also the VHS video looked crappy compared to a 1080p disc. (duh) I thought the upconverting would be better. The blu-ray video looked superb and I was using the RGB inputs, not HDMI! I like that it has an instant-on feature which is really just standby. It doesn’t show a clock when powered off. Also, the audio would not play when plugged into my 1st gen 700 series panasonic blu-ray receiver. Youtube loads fast when connected to internet however I didn’t find search feature. Not sure if there is one. I just got it yesterday. It’s great if you have VHS tapes you can’t replace.

I am another who has old VHS tapes that cannot be replaced with DVD’S of either format and I’ve searched for some of them. I had no idea that such a unit even existed until I ran across it browsing in Amazon. After reading the reviews and considering the price along with all the features it has I decided to go ahead and get it. I already had a Sony S-350 which I’m very happy with, but I still wanted to give it a try. I’m glad I did because it does what was said it would and set-up was a snap what with three wires; the power cord, an HDMI connection and the internet connection. I don’t have the problem with the poor video with the tapes as another reviewer had they’re fine, and as far as the 4:3 picture aspect, I’m sure that reviewer has found the sub-menue button that allows the stretch feature to be applied and fill the screen. Overall, I’m very satisfied with this player. Hey, not everyone has the need for it, but if you do I don’t think you’ll be disappointed…

High quality device. Feature rich and a good looking unit too. All functions are much faster than they were on my old Toshiba DVD/VCR. The remote handles all functions with ease. Amazon had it at a great price!
