Question by Logan: What kind of amp do i need to power 2 subwoofers?
In need of some advice from someone who knows car audio systems!! I just bought two 12″ subwoofers and im looking for an amp. I got the JL audio W3 and am not sure what kind of power i need. I know 1000w would be good but the ohms and channels confuse me. So what do i really need to power these babies with full potential without breaking the bank?

I don’t know exactly what subs you bought, but this is a chart from the JL Audio website that shows you the recommended power level for each of their subs.

I know i didn’t really answer your question, but hopefully that chart will help somewhat.

Generally sounds and music have their highest power in the low frequencies. The high frequencies would have a lower power average. So if you are listening at near max power for the lows, your tweeters would be operating at less that their max allowed power. Different manufacturers specify power in different ways. If it is specified for continuous sine-wave RMS power, then definitively music power will be lower. It is very difficult to conclude how much power is too much, unless you have accurate specifications for the amp and speakers. Also it depends on the design of the speaker, some of them use a clever auto-cooling that allow them to operate at higher power.

YES! you need an Amp Bridging Kit.. Schoshe ( i think thats how you spell it) they make a damn good one. It makes it so you have one power wire off your Battery into 2 wires and then Y connectors for the RCA cables. Remote wire your splice in to both amps and then the ground you should ahve seprate ones for both amps.
