Would a plasma TV screen ever crack or shatter because of a TV malfunction? I was thinking of buying one, but warranty doesn’t cover accidents. Before I buy one, I want to know if there is any reason that a plasma TV screen would crack. Any kinds of malfunctions in the TV itself, or other natural causes.

No, it sounds like it was dropped.These plasma tv sets are fragile and need to be handled carefully.I have seen many come back also because the picture fades out after a small amount of use. Another problem is that the picture burns into the screen. The same as if you leave a computer on all the time,the screensaver image burns into the screen.

I see warnings about these types of tv’s of pixels dying, especially for plasma. That doesn’t sound very good; it makes these tv’s sound unattractive to me. I’m just curious is this something you can expect at any time? After the first year? What’s common. And do you think these tv’s are still worth getting?

Its more rare than it used to be. Plasmas dont have pixels that die thats only LCD, Plasmas have the potential to burn images to the screen but thats also less of an issue with the newer models. I have had a few lcd and never had a dead pixel, as long as you buy from samsung, sony sharp you should be fine in the lcds and in the plasmas pioneer panasonic and samsung are the best.

Check the phone book in your area. You may be eligible to be a sperm donor and get paid for it. Some women can grow and sell their hair, and if you have two good kidneys, you could probably find a buyer on the black market. All of these are somewhat similar to donating plasma, and will generate income without major effort.

When I download an AVI video, and then upload it to a 50 inch plasma, I find the picture quality quite poor. Is there a way to improve that, or is the problem that the screen is too big. Is there a different type of file or codec I could download?

The video resolution is probably too small or low quality to begin with. There is no way to improve it since the video was already transcoded that way.
The only solution is to download a better quality video.

Depends on where you’re getting it from. If you’re downloading movies from bittorrent, limewire etc. there are usually descriptions or metadata about the video.
Look for tags like avi 640*480, avi rips/divx dvd rips etc.
Also, Veoh videos are a better alternative than Youtube’s.
A good indicator of quality is filesize. The bigger the filesize, the higher quality it is.
