Easy to install, configurate and use. Works perfectly in Brazil. Many options of input cables. Its speaker sound quality could be improved. The dead batteries that came in the package for the remote control was the only problem that I had.

This product worked out of the box without too much pain.
I took an unused: LCD monitor, verizon/motorola cable box, and dvd player; hooked them together using the 1680ex and ran the audio to the AUX input on an AM/FM radio.
Everything works fine for a second tv/DVD in the computer room.
picture quality: OK, sound quality: good
Worked so well I went looking for the high definition version of this product but couldn’t find it anywhere.

Why a 5-star rating ? Only because I need the YPbPr input featured in the 1680ex. I use this to route my DVD component output to play on my LCD display with the 15 pin D-sub. There is no competing product in town the last I checked. The image output can be selected for 1680×1050, 1024×768 or 800×600 monitors, and selectable for 4:3 aspect ratio or 16:9, using either the buttons on the box itself or the same buttons on the remote. This is quite well thought out to allow different monitors or size to display the image.
BTW they provide the different connector cables for either composite/S-video or component inputs. You cannot do both S-video and component simultaneously. You use one or the other to plug into the gadget.
I have not tried the TV tuner but I have their ATSC tuner (a separate purchase) which provides an excellent reception via cable QAM. I cannot compare the image output of these too products because my DVD output only in 480P, while the cable reception is in 1080i.
Anyway, I am very happy that there is a product out there that allows DVD players to display output onto the standard LCDs.

I purchased this device to be able to turn an old lcd computer monitor into a stand-alone tv. For this purpose, the device is excellent. The device is simple to set up, easy to program, and produces an excellent picture with standard cable reception. The device has a small built in speaker that I have not tried, and although it may be adequate, I am using inexpensive, plug-in computer speakers, that, I believe, would give a more wide range sound.
