Onkyo HT-S6200 7.1-Channel Home Entertainment Receiver/Speaker Package with Dock for the iPod

ONKYO Home Theater – Introducing Onkyo HT-S6200 7.1-Channel Home Entertainment Receiver/Speaker Package with Dock for the iPod
Product Description
Opting for the convenience of packaged home theater doesn’t mean you have to compromise on quality. With the new HT-S6200 receiver/speaker package, you get advanced A/V processing and amplification with the Onkyo stamp of reliability. The receiver’s four HDMI™ 1.3a inputs handle 1080p video as well as high-definition surround-sound codecs by DTS and Dolby. Compatibility with Dolby Pro Logic IIz gives you the option of incorporating front height channels into your home theater set-up. Meanwhile, onboard Audyssey equalization and volume technologies adapt the soundstage to the dimensions of your room and maintain clarity at different loudness levels. A proprietary Universal Port allows single-cable connection of the included Dock for the iPod or an optional Onkyo HD Radio™ tuner. Low-end frequencies are handled by a 290 W powered subwoofer, while seven finely matched surround-sound speakers ensure that, whatever playback component you hook up, the HT-S6200 will deliver a fully immersive home theater experience.

Great features. But mine had a buzz/hum coming from the subwoofer the minute I plugged the sub in. Tried AC outlets in 3 different rooms, with and without power strips, with and without the amp connected. Talked it through with Onkyo’s tech support (who were very helpful) but they said it’s definitely defective. Sadly I’d already put 4 hours into unpacking and setting the system up. So now I have to pack it all back into the box and ship it back (75 pounds) through UPS. I’ve owned an Onkyo amplifier before and expected better.

this is an average product, but the price was not bad. i bought this more for the receiver. at some point i will upgrade the speakers. they are pretty cheap and not the best sounding. the most disappointing aspect is how slow the processing is. i have our cable box running through the receiver. switching between hd and non-hd channels, there is a 5 second delay. when changing from xbox to cable, there is a 10 second delay. other than that, i am happy with the purchase.

Pros: Amazing sound for the money, easy setup and speaker configuration, loud, clear, sleek.
Cons: Not much at all. I am about 7 days into ownership and cannot find one thing I do not love about it.
BEST PART: the ipod dock.. oh my. This is an amazing added bonus. My ipod touch has been in near 24/7 usage. Streaming Pandora via the ipod dock is something to behold. Being able to switch between playlists with the remote is just another perk that makes me happy.
I am very happy with this system and highly recommend it. For the price, its probably the best you can get with the options it gives you.

This HTIB is nothing short of amazing. The most important aspect t of any home theater is the sound and it does not disappoint. The sound is crisp and clear; the lows are deep, the highs are precise. I’ve watched movies, caught baseball games on cable and have listened to plain old FM radio and CD’s. All have been a pleasure to listen to on this system. The optional placement (high front or rear behind) of the 2 add’l speakers for the 7.1 setup was a big help as was the Audessy automatic setup. Over all it’s a very great system for a very reasonable price. Just make sure you don’t spend more than $550 for it because the price goes up when Amazon runs out of it. I have not experienced any problems that others have reported.
