As other reviews state, great sound and quality … only two stars though for the terrible configuration options on the dual HDMI out capability. I have a projector with 5.1 speakers in one room and an LCD TV in another room – both wired for HDMI. I bought the SR6003 because of its HDMI Dual Outputs assuming that 1) you could send a signal to both HDMI Outs at the same time and 2) that you could configure Out1 for audio output through the amp/speakers while Out2 would send audio across the HDMI connection. Wrong on both accounts. In reality, I have no idea how the dual HDMI outs could be useful without either of those features … very disappointing. But the sound is great both audio CD and blu-ray decoding.

Easy to set up. Sound and video is excellent. The sound quality is very clean and neutral reproducing live music very naturally. The included microphone made speaker setup a breeze. The video quality is the best I have personally ever seen. My cable does not pix-elate any more. Everything is crisper and brighter than before. It is running a 52″ Mitsubishi DLP. For speakers I have Aperion 6T towers, 6C center, 5B rears and the bravias 10D sup.

My husband just updated his entertainment system with the intra-red technology and needed to get a new receiver to make everything work. Did a ton of research for about 3 months and really loved this model. He is very pleased with his decision. We are still working out the kinks with the intra-red, but the receiver is everything he wanted it to be and the entertainment system sounds awesome!

I have had the 6003 for the last three weeks. I upgraded from the HK avr 7200. I am very pleased with the sound quality and the switching. I set up the unit with hdmi cables and did not have to use a dozen calbles I had previously connected to the HK. I set the unit up using the Audyssey mike and auto set up. I had to make minor adjustments in the bass (added about 10 db).
I love this receiver and highly recommend it.

I purchased this receiver in order to upgrade to HDMI.
The pros of this receiver are it’s relative moderate price, high build quality (although built in China – most are, it seems above average quality), many choices in inputs/outputs and one of the best upconversion systems to 1080i and 1080p.
Sound quality as well as video quality were prime concerns. I cannot say the SR6003 sounds better than my NAD T762 it is replacing in my rack, but it sounds terrific and with the newest sound codecs it certainly can handle the newest blu-ray disc soundtracks.
The remote control is well thought out and better than most I have seen. I do wish that the silver cabinet for the SR6003 was more widely available.
The con to me are it is not THX ceritfied. I’m well aware that some audiophile reviewers think this is not a big deal, but others, and I’m in this category, believe that THX certification does guarantee a base level for sound quality. At this price point, considering the competition, THX certification should have been a priority.
All in all I’m very happy with this receiver and I would certainly recommend it over the more common brands readily available in the US.
